Thanks everyone for your superb posts so far :)

As expected, everyone falls one side or the other!

Both hold merits and drawbacks. One point worth mentioning is using proprietry software like Max/Maya etc should be ruled out. Access to this software can not be taken for granted. I think the only way would be for a bespoke solution.

After everyone thoughts up til now, I'm tending towards a hybrid solution of free form and block based :D

Also, If someone could make post a list of editors to investigate that would be cool.

we could draw tracks on paper and send it to you :) the easy way to have update : 3 new maps each month for a new championship (online or replay). at the end of the year 2008 you could sell a great big game on console ;)

I hope each map would be a new environment with NSR : a 3D work is the only solution : I hope you'll find players able to do that ! which tools are you using to create map ?

how they do custom maps in call of duty ?
