F-jet skins

You can now create your own skins and integrate them in NSR. To do that you need :

-a software to edit .PSD files : photoshop (shareware) or Gimp (freeware)

-download the .PSD files pack of the 4 F-jets

Then there is a note in the pack that is :

1. In your NSR Stage 1 installation folder (by default its name is "NSR_Stage_1"), create a folder with the name : "Creation\Textures\Skins".

2. Open with Gimp or photoshop the PSD file corresponding to the F-jet you wish to paint.

3. Draw on the "my skin" layer

 You can create as many layers as you want

:!: Group or layers named "F-jet" have to be at the top of the layers list.

4. Save your creation as .tga file (32 bits/pixel, uncompressed, with the alpha channel)

:!: the "F-jet mesh" layer have to be hidden when your save as .tga

5. Delete one of the textures in the folder "NSR_Stage_1\NSR\Resources\Textures\Skins", for example "StuntCarG3_1_03.tex"

6. Put the new tga you've saved at step 4 in the folder created at step 1 "NSR_Stage_1\Creation\Textures\Skins", and give it the same name as the file you've deleted, which means "StuntCarG3_1_03.tga" in our example.

7. Launch the game and go in the F-Jet selection page, and click on "3D view" to see your new skin (you'll have to wait a bit until it's converted).

So you just have to do the best you can and share your creations with us :)

Have fun !

First.

</troll>

I want to say something, and I also want to ask something - this topic is ooooooold but I want to say it anyway.

Firstly:

The alpha layers on the Photoshop files are incorrect. I don't know if GIMP handles alpha layers differently from Photoshop but I've found that the alpha layers needs inverting, otherwise the car has no specular and the jet engines do.

The alpha layer should be mostly white, with darker bits beneath where the suspension and shading go. (inverted from what is actually set, ;))

Secondly:

I want to ask: is there a sticker pack that I can download to use on the cars? I've managed to "acquire" the aiwave logo but I'm interested in finding the NSR main logo, the Nitro Stunt Racing logo, Game Seed's logo and any others that are used in-game that I can apply to the cars without any major editing to clean them up.

I still want to ask for the targa files of the game's actual car skins as well :P as well as those skins that I've found previews of in the NSR directory but don't exist in-game (such as one called "white" and one that looks similar to the fireball skin).

Hi Mac

1/ You're wright : the alpha layers of the PSD need inverting. This files are old now and the system to manage alpha channels was inverted in the latest updates. Just apply a "negative" effect on the alpha channel to get it right. Thanks for your feedback

2/ We have mainly Game Seed, Ai-wave and NSR logos for stickers : Download the logo pack

Sorry but the targa files from the skins preview don't exist any more.

Ah. :(

Thanks for the photoshop files. The custom car skins I make don't seem to look right without NSR branding. :D

It's my first "serious" skin. It's kinda simple like some of the default NSR skins, but it looks good.

Image

I basically just used a halftone and a scanline effect on it. I need to modify the front of the sidepods because the texture gets stretched there :/

I'm not as good as some of the people in the French thread. :/ but it's a start. I'll make better ones eventually, it's been a while since I used Photoshop. lol.

I just re-install the game on windows Seven and I lost my profile :(
Since I just want to do skins for my beloved Photon, I'll have to drive a bit to unlock it again ...

(I'll do it quickly tonight and I'll try my skins  )

O.O wow

Graffiti theme? :]

I need to make up some little stencils and find some brushes for certain patterns (like the honeycomb effect and stuff). The more cars I make the more detailed they'll get.

I will probably start changing AI car skins for videos too.

I don't know if you're using Photoshop or Gimp.

But if you're a gimp addict, this set of brushes can pleased you : 700 brushes for Gimp
I mainly used that to do this skin. (Brushes are really great to find inspiration )

I use Photoshop CS3 :]

And I do have a lot of brushes somewhere I just need to find them. I tend to just use the default ones, and spend a while adding effects and filters to get unique things. (I discovered a nice scrambling effect when applying a stainedglass window filter over the halftone filter :] which I will use on the next car)
