SLI?

Postby Mac on Sat Nov 08, 2008 14:53

Does NSR support multiple graphics cards?

I've now got two geforce 9800GTX+'s and am still getting the same sort of frame rate on the game as I was before.

I'm just curious if the game can utilise SLI or if I need to change the rendering mode?

Yes the game can ustilise SLI, there's nothing to change in the rendering mode.

But the fact is I haven't seen any significant difference between one card and two card in SLI... :x

I haven't either... that's why I asked.

Although, it may be due to me running the game on a much higher resolution (1920x1080) than I was previously (1360x768).

=/

The test we've done are in 1920x1080, on Geforce 9800 GTX. With 1 or 2 cards we don't see any noticeable difference...

Strange indeed.

Is there any chance to be able to find out what's causing that or solve it?

It's not particularly much of a problem (I still get 40+ fps even on 1920x1080 and on max graphics settings / all cars on screen). I just figured that 60 fps is better than 40 fps. ;)

As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing we can do on the code side (easily).
The only thing you can do is always use the latest drivers...

Concerning the frame rate, the game is moslty CPU bounded, which means that with 16 f-jets on screen, even with the best video card you won't raise the fps if the CPU doesn't change.

I have a quad-core AMD Phenon 9950.

Though I've yet to see the game use more than 25% processing power (practically one core.)

I've never been convinced by the SLI in all the test i've made...anyway if you have so much money to spend, try two 4870 and the crossfire, maybe you'll have 10% of gain..

I've gone from playing Trackmania Nations at medium-high graphics settings on 1366x768 at 40 fps to max graphics settings at 1920x1080 at 50 fps

I don't like ATI anyway. Their drivers are crap. Also I can't afford one HD4870 let alone two =/

Hm.

I think I sourced the problem.

According to the nVidia SLI games list, Nitro Stunt Racing isn't one of the SLI-compatible games.

Which, I guess, may explain the lack of change in performance with two cards, since the game's probably just going between using both cards one by one rather than utilizing both of them together to increase performance.

Kinda noticed the same issue on GTA4. :p
